It’s All About the Perfect Pour

It’s All About the Perfect Pour

We know your goal is to serve beer to your customers the way the brewmaster intended. The answer to achieving this goal lies in perfecting the pour. You can stock the latest, greatest, tastiest beer, but if you are not serving it correctly, you and your customers are pouring money down the drain with each pint. A little harsh, I know, but that is how strongly we feel about serving the best quality beer!

The Perfect Pour starts with:

The Perfect Temperature – Not too cold, not too hot – you need to store your beer at the “just right” temperature. Fluctuating too much from the “just right” zone can lead to a flat taste or too much foam at the time of dispensing. Just a reminder that it takes beer a full 24 hours or longer in the cooler to come to temperature.

The Perfect Pressure – When dispensing draft beer, the goal is to keep each beer at the CO2 level determined by the brewer. Deviations from the brewers pressure recommendation can alter the taste, the foaminess, and the appearance of the beer.

The Perfect Lines – And what we mean by perfect lines are CLEAN lines. Trace minerals can build up in the lines creating what is called ‘beerstone’. Over time the beerstone can trap things like bacteria, mold, and yeast. Beer is loaded with natural preservatives found in the hops and alcohol so it would take quite a bit of time for beer to become ‘unsafe’ to drink. But this is no excuse! The buildup of ‘beerstone’ can quite quickly destroy the flavor of your beer. Beer flavor can be greatly changed even while it remains safe to drink.

The Perfect Glass – The first thing the perfect glass needs to be is CLEAN. If you see bubbles sticking to the side of the glass below the head, you have residue on your glass my friend. Beer glasses should be washed separate from food dishes. Washing beer glasses with a low-sud detergent helps keep residue to a minimum. And yes, the perfect glass means the one with the shape that most complements the beer you are drinking. You can reference this list by Beer Advocate to choose the perfect glasswear shape.
